PROJECT OVERVIEW
DESCRIPTION
For the final project in ME 112: Mechanical Systems Design, each team faced the challenge to create a small, battery-powered biomimetic jumping robot, able to leap 1 meter vertically and attach itself to the underside of a surface. The robot was to be inspired by Mynocks, fictional creatures from the Star Wars universe, and mimic their motion, which loosely resembles that of a frog. Featuring three major design choices – a lightweight frame, two legs stabilized by interlocking gears, and a hook and ring release mechanism – our team’s final robot successfully completed the challenge.
